As I’m sure most of you will remember, last winter The Adventure Academy hosted a sneaky little winter getaway in the sleepy town of Tonteldoos, Mpumalanga and it was a massive hit thanks to our close collaboration with the wonderful locals of the area. As I’m sure most of you will remember, last winter The Adventure Academy hosted a sneaky little winter getaway in the sleepy town of Tonteldoos, Mpumalanga and it was a massive hit thanks to our close collaboration with the wonderful locals of the area.

So, I was chatting to Peter McBride who owns The Highside Tavern last week, and seeing as it’s been a year since our last Tonteldoos trip and guess what? We’re heading down there yet again from the 30th June to the 2nd July for ‘Don’t be a Doos in Tonteldoos!’, Version 2.0

We’ve learnt from last year’s event and changes have been made to make everyone more comfortable but we’ll essentially not be altering the program too much as overall, it seemed to work rather well in 2016. On Friday we will depart Sandton at 08h00 and enjoy a fantastic gravel adventure ride out to Tonteldoos via Bronkhorstspruit and Loskop dam before arriving in the mid afternoon to a welcome dust busting drink. For those not too keen on riding off road, a tar route will be offered as a self-ride option.

Two nights simple accommodation at The Highside Tavern homestead and dinner and breakfast on both days at The Duck and Cow will cost R1900pp. I can accommodate only 16 people at Highside so act quickly! We also have more private but still simple accommodation option down the road at Joe Holmes’ place, which is available for two couples only at the same rate.

Then additionally, there is a more luxurious option for those wanting a bit more tranquillity at Riverman Cabins for R2250pp, while still enjoying your meals and the jol with the rest of the group at The Highside and The Duck and Cow.

The party will be Epic with the talented and very entertaining DJ Werner stoking the party fires on Saturday night so bring your dancing (and drinking) shoes.

The riding will be rustig and not technical with a tweaked route from 2016’s just to keep things fresh. A back up vehicle will be accompanying the group off-road to ensure that no one gets stranded or left behind

I believe that a number of couples would want to attend this event so vehicles are welcome to carry the WAG’s should they not want to ride out on the Friday or back on the Sunday. Lunch will be in Dullstroom on Saturday and for your own account.

Please will you confirm with me without delay as I know the demand this year is going to be huge and with limited accommodation available, spaces are indeed limited. Kindly fill out the new on-line entry form https://goo.gl/forms/Ioxo8AcPL4Dhewb72 and make your deposit into the attached account.
